Salesforce announces the deprecation of UUID token formats for API Clients in Commerce Cloud Account Manager. Learn about the changes and the steps required to switch to JWT access tokens before the June 15, 2023 deadline to avoid authentication failures.

Salesforce is dedicated to ensuring the security and success of its customers. In line with this commitment, Salesforce has announced that, effective June 15, 2023, it will no longer support the use of UUID token formats for API Clients in Commerce Cloud Account Manager. Customers who continue to use UUID token formats may experience authentication failures. To avoid such issues, it is recommended that customers switch to JWT token format before the deadline.

How Does This Change Affect Customers?

This change impacts Commerce Cloud customers who have API client applications configured to use UUID access token formats. To ensure a smooth transition, customers must update their Access Token Format settings for existing API clients from UUID tokens to JWT tokens.

How to Switch to JWT Access Tokens

To change the Access Token Format setting for an API Client using a UUID setting, follow these steps:

  1. Log into Account Manager.
  2. Click API Client. The API Clients page shows a list of API clients.
  3. Filter by token format option, select UUID, and list all API Clients using UUID. If you don’t have any API Clients using UUID, no further action is required.
  4. Click an API Client using UUID to go to its configuration page.
  5. Scroll down to the bottom of the page and set the Access Token Format to JWT.
  6. Click Save, and repeat this process for all API Clients using UUID.

By making this switch to JWT tokens, most API client code will not be impacted. However, customers checking UUID token length as part of their API client code will experience failures if they haven’t removed this check before the UUID Deprecation Date.

It's important to stay informed and act on this change to ensure the security and success of your Salesforce Commerce Cloud Account Manager experience.
